With 25 years of experience as a domestic relations attorney, Mr. Goldsby embraces his obligation to assist and guide individuals and families through some of the most difficult issues people can face. He appreciates that Individuals involved in family law matters are often in distress and feel overwhelmed and confused. He strives to ensure that his clients understand the legal process, their rights, and their options, so they are in the best position to make decisions which will often have a profound impact on the rest of their lives. He recognizes the myriad of factors involved in a family law case - emotional, financial, and legal - and offers empathetic, but honest, counsel to his clients.

Mr. Goldsby has successfully represented clients in all areas of family law, which include: equitable distribution of property, including the valuation of closely-held businesses and the tracing of separate assets; child and spousal support, often involving the imputation of income to a party; child custody and visitation matters, including cases where third-parties are seeking custody or visitation, cases involving children of a same-sex relationship, and cases where a parent seeks to relocate with the children; the negotiation of premarital agreements; and cases involving the modification of support and/or custodial arrangements.

Clients, colleagues, and judges appreciate and respect Mr. Goldsby's attention to detail and meticulous preparation. These qualities serve Mr. Goldsby's clients well when it comes to negotiation of settlement agreements as well as litigation. Mr. Goldsby recognizes that it is often beneficial to his clients to settle their cases out of court, if that is possible. To that end, Mr. Goldsby endeavors to understand his clients' goals, assess their likelihood, and recommend ways they can be achieved via settlement. In the event a reasonable settlement cannot be reached, Mr. Goldsby will zealously represent his clients' interests in court. Mr. Goldsby is respected as a confident, skilled, and credible litigator who achieves favorable results in his cases that go to trial.

Mr. Goldsby has also enjoyed a unique experience related to families and children as a result of his recent tenure as a high school teacher. From 2018-2022 he taught Government and Law in Action at Chantilly High School, and was named "New Teacher of the Year" for the 2018-19 school year; he was also the sponsor of Chantilly's National Honor Society and Model Judiciary club. During this time, Mr. Goldsby connected and formed relationships with his students and their families, allowing him to better understand the challenges families in Northern Virginia encounter.

Mr. Goldsby has received a preeminent rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, has been recognized as a Virginia Super Lawyer, has been listed in the treatise The Best Lawyers in America, has been named among the "Legal Elite" by Virginia Business Magazine, has been recognized as one of the "Top Lawyers in NOVA" by Northern Virginia Magazine, and has been selected on several occasions as one of the "Top Lawyers in the Washington, DC Area" in the area of Family Law by the Washingtonian magazine.
